Verizon Center ADA Certification
Verizon Center has a recognized accessibility program that is
one of the best in the sports and entertainment business with the Accessible
Seating and Services Office being exclusively dedicated to servicing
individuals with disabilities. An
Accessibility Coordinator visits our accessible seating sections during each
event to answer questions, arrange the purchase of accessible seating for
future events, and/or provide assistance whenever needed for our guests who
have disabilities. Sensitivity training
is offered to staff on an annual basis.
Many services and amenities are offered to accommodate the
needs of our guests with disabilities at Verizon Center. One will find a Metro stop with elevator access to the street
level adjacent to the arena, a drop-off zone adjacent to the building, ample
curb cuts, and accessible entrances into the arena.Once inside, each level is accessible via elevators.
Verizon Center offers accessible seating in an integrated
setting in all levels if the arena. Any
individuals with a disability may order tickets by calling the Accessible
Seating and Services Office by phone or TTY. Also, Verizon Center has installed a TTY at one of the ticket windows at the
main entrance to make ordering tickets easier for everyone.
Additional aids and services include tactile and Braille
signage, accessible pay telephones including two TTY phones, accessible
restrooms, Braille and pictogram menus, lowered service counters and condiment
stands.
With appropriate notice, Verizon Center provides audio
description and sign interpretation. An
FM assistive listening system will be in operation for all events.
Verizon Center has been designed and constructed to comply with
the Americans with Disabilities Act.
